Swindon MVC’s relationship with Côr Meibion Aberystwyth goes back several years.
In 2006 Swindon MVC visited Aberystwyth for a concert in aid of The British Heart Foundation and in 2008 Côr Meibion Aberystwyth sang at Immanuel Church, Swindon.
A picture gallery of our visit…

Gordie Smith organises the troops before the concert and M.D. Max Brockman-Moore gives some last minute instructions.

But there’s always one joker! Len Curtis the most senior member of the choir (34 years – and still enjoying the banter).

The concert starts with SMVC and the Aberystwyth MVC joining forces to sing a rousing first item, ‘Gwahoddiad’ (in Welsh).

A fine female Welsh soloist, Sophie Rudge sings from the heart and impresses a packed hall with her performance.

Max presents Eric Ekins with SMVC cufflinks to celebrate his first concert and membership of the choir.

On the coach journey home the choir clear a tree from the road. Nothing stops the choir getting their Sunday lunch!

After lunch Terry Morris and the choir still have energy to serenade the caterers, with the song ‘I Can’t Help Falling in Love’ whilst Ken Garrett tucks into his second pudding.

In the words of the song, ‘Wuh-Duh-Yah do with a Drunken Sailor’ – ‘So now you know what they did on their trip to Aberystwyth’.
