This annual carol concert, to a packed audience, raised over £400 for the Julia’s House, Dorset and Wiltshire Children’s Hospices.

SMVC gather at Leekes of Melksham
Now dressed for the occasion. 
Right on cue, Father Christmas arrives – but he declines the offer to join us.
We sing a selection of carols.

Transported by Pewsey Vale reindeer we arrive at the Steam museum.

An appreciative audience made the occasion one to remember.
At the concert eight Swindon Choristers were presented with Wesford Bowl certificates by the Swindon Mayor, Councillor Maureen Penny. Brian Pressey is first up. Followed by:

A few weeks later a cheque is presented to a representative from the Swindon Cares charity at the Mayor’s chamber.

The choirs entertained the audience with a variety of song including ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ by Queen, which was one of the audience’s favourites on the night.

Post-concert socialising and singing was again conducted in the bar. We all look forward to a reunion with a concert in the Neath next year.

An ice-cream. But we did have some great weather.
But what would a choir tour be without some after concert singing at the hotel bar? 
A farewell song to the hotel staff on the last night. 
A tense wait before our second performance in the Male Voice Choir category.
But the wait was worthwhile. After great performances of our items: Let All Men Sing, Steady Light, The Water is Wide, Wuh-Duh-Yah Do with a Drunken Sailor we have some excellent comments from the adjudicators. Some say that is the fastest they have seen MD, Max Brockmann-More move as he went onstage to collect the cup.

The choir presented Choir President’s wife, Mrs Pauline Knox with flowers to show their support for her as her husband, Ken is seriously ill in hospital.

The concert saw two debutant tenors, Mike Smith and Peter Colman. Before the concert they both received SMVC cufflinks to mark the occasion by Swindon’s next Mayor.

In 2015 year we are looking to recruit a few more singers and Max looks like he has found a good prospect perhaps.
‘Who loves you baby’ – Francis Couldridge, our accompanist for many years, relaxes and is given a sweet lolly bribe before she reviews the choirs’ concert performance! Always one of our harshest critics, so it’s worth it.
